news92We have received word from the family of Felix Weinberg that he passed away on the afternoon of 5 December 2012 with his family at his side. The funeral will be at East Sheen Cemetery, Sheen Road, Richmond, Surrey on Monday, 10 December. A reception will follow at his home in London.

Professor Weinberg was a British physicist and the Emeritus Professor of Combustion Physics and Distinguished Research Fellow at Imperial College in London. At 84, he was still participating in research and is a co-author of a paper presented at the 34th Symposium in Warsaw this past summer. He is known for his optical and electrical studies of flames and his pioneering development of innovative combustion methods. Professor Weinberg received the Combustion Institute Silver Medal in 1972 and was awarded the Bernard Lewis Gold Medal in 1980.

The sympathies of The Combustion Institute are extended to his family and many friends and colleagues.
