The Combustion Institute recognizes scientists whose work advances combustion educational initiatives with five Bernard Lewis Fellowship awards. The selection committee is now accepting nominations. Awards will be issued during the 36th International Symposium on Combustion in Seoul, Korea.

The purpose of the Bernard Lewis Endowment Fund is to undertake or seed projects that advance educational initiatives in combustion research. The Bernard Lewis Fellowship was established to encourage high quality research by young scientists and engineers. Nominations must be made by a member of The Combustion Institute who is familiar with the accomplishments of the nominee.

A fellowship consists of a $500 USD cash award, and financial reimbursements for: registration fee for the 36th International Symposium on Combustion, the Wednesday picnic, the Thursday banquet, and hotel accommodations for the nights of the Symposium. In addition, fellowship recipients receive an electronic copy of The Proceedings of The Combustion Institute, Vol. 36, and a one-year journal subscription to Combustion and Flame. Recipients will also be recognized in the Symposium program book.
