2016BoardElectionVotersContinents (2)

The 2016 Board of Directors election will begin on 15 June 2016 via electronic ballot. Active CI members with a confirmed email address will receive a ballot from Election-America, a secure and full-service election management organization. Ballots may be submitted until 15 July 2016.

Registration has significantly increased since the 2014 election cycle. In that year, 1831 members were registered to vote, and a total of 1131 (62%) voters submitted electronic ballots. This year, 3,354 members are now registered to vote, as shown in the graphic below. If the same percentage of voters participate in the election, over 2,000 members will have submitted ballots.

As a growing international organization, members are encouraged and challenged to increase voter participation. To make informed voting choices, review the full slate of 10 candidates prior to submitting a ballot. Five directors will be elected by the membership using a modified STV process. The modification from the 2014 election ensures the election of at least two of the four candidates from industry, which is consistent with the Board of Director’s goal of increasing its industrial representation.

Candidates will be notified of the election results during the last week of July, prior to the Symposium. A public announcement to members will be made at the 36th International Symposium on Combustion in Seoul, Korea that will convene from 31 July to 5 August 2016. Elected directors will join the board to begin the next two years of service at the conclusion of the Symposium.

Election of directors is conducted biennially. Directors serve six-year terms. Refer to The Combustion Institute By-Laws for more information about the Board of Directors. Questions regarding the election may be directed to: Office@CombustionInstitute.org.
