Mission Statement
The non-profit Combustion Institute is an international educational and scientific society dedicated to advancing combustion science and engineering.
Vision Statement
The Combustion Institute envisions a future where combustion science discovery and understanding drives transformative advancements of technologies in all areas of human endeavor such as transport, sustainability, space exploration, power conversion, energy storage, material processing, and fire safety systems.
Strategic Plan
Growth, Diversity, Education, Collaboration, and Innovation are guiding principles during an eight-year strategic plan to:
- Embrace combustion as integral to the transformation of global energy utilization.
- Promote research leadership and education to a broad international audience to facilitate scientific exchange and encourage young achievers to join the combustion community.
- Facilitate and encourage interactions among academia, industry, government agencies, and other stakeholders to employ combustion either alone or in tandem with other modes of utilization for optimal system performance.
- Engage with other professional organizations and non-traditional partners to achieve technology advances with a sustainable impact.
- Provide professional development opportunities to support members and develop an external voice to communicate and distribute information pertaining to combustion through:
o Increasing distribution and reach of journals as well as the number and reach of meetings and conferences
o Increasing connections and collaborations with outside industries and organizations
Core Principles, that will guide the implementation of the Strategic Plan
