The Combustion Institute is pleased to announce early registration for the 36th International Symposium on Combustion reached over 1,100 scientists, students, and practitioners before 7 June 2016. Members are continuing to register every week, which indicates significant interest. Members of the international combustion community who plan to attend, but have not yet registered, are encouraged to do so soon.

As we move closer to the Symposium, participants are invited to review the schedule of events. Anyone who wishes to experience Korean culture should read through the social program, which includes the accompanying guest tours.

Throughout the week, sessions and events are scheduled to explore topics in 14 combustion colloquia. Participants will attend the Hottel Lecture, other plenary lectures, topical reviews, oral presentations, WiPP presentations, and the new Sessions on Industry Perspectives. Our combustion community also has the opportunity to build new friendships and reignite lifelong relationships.

The 36th Symposium will convene at the Coex Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul, Korea from Sunday, 31 July through Friday, 5 August 2016. The biennial Symposium provides a scientific venue for sharing ideas and experiences on the development and applications of combustion science. Coex is conveniently located in the heart of the city’s business district.

As an internationally recognized site with an active combustion research program, Seoul offers our combustion community world-class opportunities to interact with scientists and companies in an exciting and dynamic environment. Graced  by the Hangang River and the majestic Mt. Namsan, visitors experience the perfect combination of natural surroundings and modern urban splendor. Seoul has been Korea’s capital for more than 600 years. Traces of the city’s ancient legacy can be found in its museums and national treasures.
