The Combustion Institute is thrilled to announce the appointment of Heinz Pitsch and Hai Wang as the Program Co-Chairs (PCCs) for the 37th International Symposium on Combustion in Dublin, Ireland. The PCCs set the tone for the technical program for each symposium, including the selection of invited speakers and oversight of combustion colloquia.

Prof. Heinz Pitsch heads the Institute for Combustion Technology, Institut für Technische Verbrennung, RWTH Aachen University, Germany. His main research interests are in combustion theory, modeling of turbulent reacting flows with large-eddy simulations, development and analysis of chemical kinetic reaction mechanisms, modeling of pollutant formation, development of numerical methods, investigation and modeling of combustion instabilities, and model applications to modern aircraft engine combustion, reciprocating engine combustion, and chemical processing. He also serves on The Combustion Institute Board of Directors, and has served as a former editorial board member of Combustion and Flame.

Hai Wang is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, United States. His interests are in renewable energy conversion, catalysis and combustion. His current research focuses on theories and applications of nanoparticles and nanostructures for rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors, combustion simulations and nanocatalysis. He is also Co-Editor of Progress in Energy and Combustion Science (PECS) and a former editorial board member of The Proceedings of The Combustion Institute.

The 37th Symposium will convene in Dublin, Ireland from Sunday, 29 July through Friday, 3 August 2018. The biennial symposium provides a scientific venue for sharing ideas and experiences on the development and applications of combustion science. As an internationally recognized city, Dublin offers our combustion community world-class opportunities to interact with scientists and companies in an exciting and dynamic environment.
