Events held by sections and affiliates of The Combustion Institute assist in our objective to promote and disseminate research activities and information in all areas of combustion science and technology. We are pleased to showcase the successes and contributions of our members among our international community of combustion scientists and practitioners.

The 8th Brazilian Combustion Institute Summer School of Combustion – Virtual Special Edition was held from 18-22 October 2021. Promoted by Rede Nacional de Combustão (RNC) – Brazilian Section of The Combustion Institute, the summer school focused on biofuels and conversion technology, as well as modeling and simulation of turbulent combustion processes. Its online format included two courses, seven poster sessions with more than 50 posters accepted, seven lecture sessions, two industry sessions, one workshop, a Women in Combustion session, and a special session in memoriam of Prof. Mario Costa, a longtime member of The Portuguese Section of The Combustion Institute.

The summer school occurred on an integrated platform exclusive to event participants, where it was possible to watch all live and recorded sessions, get in touch with sponsors, supporters and other participants, schedule meetings, make video calls, etc.

With over 300 registered participants from 20 institutions and 15 countries represented, the summer school had great participation from the combustion community in Brazil and around the world. 50 professionals from five universities were involved in the organizing and event program of the summer school, with seven sponsors present as well. The organizers would like to thank everyone who participated and look forward to the next Brazilian CI-Summer School in 2023!
