Opening Ceremony of the third National Young Scholar Meeting on Combustion Research in Xi’an, China

The third China National Young Scholar Meeting on Combustion Research (3rd NYSMCR) was held in Xi’an, China 14-17 April 2017.  Approximately 400 delegates from 89 institutions in China attended the meeting, many of whom successfully showcased their latest achievements in combustion research. Twenty-five invited senior experts also attended the meeting.

The NYSMCR aimed to centralize young researchers in the combustion field and focused mainly on the current research development in combustion science. Meeting attendees presented their newest research by delivering presentations in their fields. The program consisted of plenary lectures and parallel sessions. Colloquium topics included laminar flame and chemical reaction kinetics, turbulent flame and numerical combustion, combustion in engines, solid combustion and combustion pollution, fire research, combustion diagnostics, and new combustion technology.

Professor Wei Fan from Northwestern Polytechnical University introduced and chaired the opening ceremony. Seven plenary lectures were presented by eminent young specialists on multiple topics of fundamental combustion research. About 140 oral presentations were presented during the meeting. Six workshops were also conducted on state-of-the-art fundamental combustion research.

Several reports were delivered during the meeting. Professor Fei Qi from Shanghai Jiao Tong University introduced details of the International Symposium on Combustion. Program Chair, Professor Naian Liu from University of Science and Technology of China presented the recent changes in NYSMCR. The fourth NYSMCR was determined to be held will be held next year in Wuhan, China.

The third NYSMCR was sponsored and organized respectively by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Northwestern Polytechnical University.
