The proposal deadline for 2019 Combustion Institute-Summer Schools has been extended to 31 May 2018 from the previous deadline of 31 March to ensure the best possible proposals are submitted for evaluation. Universities, CI Sections, and other qualified organizations are encouraged to submit a proposal in accordance with the defined guidelines.

As an international, educational and scientific society that promotes and disseminates research activities in all areas of combustion science and technology, as well as particular topics of combustion, Combustion Institute-Summer Schools foster a new generation of combustion scientists. CI-SS programs provide interested parties, mainly graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, the opportunity to receive an intensive educational experience. Student participants meet world-leading scientists and work to build their own international network.

Combustion Institute-Summer Schools are conducted in a diverse array of countries around the world. Each CI-SS program serves to promote international scientific participation and the global growth of combustion science. Summer schools address a multitude of combustion fields i.e., sustainable energy supply, the impact on our environment, safe and cheap transportation, fire suppression, and others. These education initiatives correspond to societal needs and benefit the public.

The proven success of the Combustion Institute-Summer Schools initiative further enhances the international combustion community’s outreach activities. More information about the background, objectives, proposal formatting, financial support by CI, and the selection process for CI-SS programs are presented in the guidelines.
