The book project: A Gallery of Combustion and Fire is accepting photo submissions through 30 June 2017. The editors, Drs. Charles Baukal, Ajay Agrawal, Michael Gollner, Michael Henneke, Timothy Jacobs, and Sandra Olson are seeking a wide range of images related to combustion and fire. Cambridge University Press and the United States Central States Section of The Combustion Institute are working to recruit worldwide participation.

Professors who teach combustion courses will soon be able to add a colorful supplement of combustion photos to their existing textbooks, which typically have a limited number of graphic images. Combustion is an extremely visual phenomenon, and therefore, A Gallery of Combustion and Fire will be useful in helping students learn more about combustion from the unique perspective of color images submitted by combustion scientists and practitioners from around the world.

There is no limit to the number of submissions the editors will review. Contributors are encouraged to submit their photographs of combustion occurrences. Details and guidelines can be found on the book project’s website.

Cambridge University Press approached the Central States Section about publishing this book. The same publisher also published A Gallery of Fluid Motion, which provides a graphic visualization of fluid flow. The Central States Section holds an annual Combustion Art Competition that has proven successful for many years.
