The Combustion Institute has recently approved three programs for the 2018 Combustion Institute-Summer School (CI-SS) initiative. Based on a strict review of submitted proposals, three comprehensive programs were approved for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, Princeton University, United States, and Tsinghua University, China.

Combustion Institute-Summer Schools provide interested parties, mainly graduate students and postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to receive an intensive educational experience. Program dates and student registration details for each of the upcoming CI-SS programs will be available in the early spring of 2018.

The CI-SS initiative was established to promote scientific education that corresponds with the combustion-related needs of society. Student participants meet world-leading scientists and work to build their own international network. The Combustion Institute, in cooperation with host organizations around the world, assemble CI-SS programs to harmonize and promote the global growth of combustion science and technologies.

Proposals for 2019 summer schools are due no later than 31 March 2018. The Combustion Institute invites universities, sections, and other qualified organizations to submit their proposals in accordance with the defined guidelines. The proven success of the CI-SS initiative continues to foster the next generation of combustion scientists.
