Werner Matthias Ihme, 2017 Hiroshi Tsuji Early Career Researcher Award winner and professor at Stanford University, California, United States, has been selected to receive a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award. The nomination was submitted to the Foundation and its selection committee by Prof. Dr. Ali Gülhan, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt DLR (German Aerospace Center), Cologne/Germany. 

This research award is conferred in recognition of the award winner’s entire academic record to date. In addition, award winners are invited to carry out research projects of their own choice in cooperation with specialist colleagues in Germany.
