During the meeting of The Combustion Institute Board of Directors at the 37th International Symposium on Combustion, a change was approved to the governing document of the Fellows program. The change impacts nominees from industry and allows one supporting letter to be provided by a non-member of The Combustion Institute if such a letter is deemed by the nominator to be essential in order to provide crucial information about the nominee.

The Call for Nominations has been released for the 2019 Fellows of The Combustion Institute. The Fellows program recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the discipline. This is a lifetime honorific title. Fellow of The Combustion Institute confers no special rights, privileges or duties. A list of Fellows is maintained on The Combustion Institute website and the newly elected Fellows will be announced and added in 2019.

To be eligible for election as a Fellow of The Combustion Institute, you must be a member in good standing who has been an active participant in The Combustion Institute over at least the past five years (as evidenced by publishing papers in journals associated with The Combustion Institute, by attendance at the International Symposium on Combustion and/or in Section meetings).

The Fellows of The Combustion Institute are recognized by their peers as distinguished for outstanding contributions to combustion, whether it be in research or in applications.

For more information about the Fellows program refer to the governing document accepted by the Board of Directors on 1 August 2018. Questions regarding nominations may be directed to the CI office: Office@CombustionInstitute.org.
