The Combustion Institute Tellers’ Committee and President James F. Driscoll have validated the 2018 Board of Directors elections results. From a slate of 18 candidates, nine directors were elected by the membership, including two of the candidates from industry.

The Board of Directors manages the affairs, property, and interests of The Combustion Institute. The election of directors is conducted biennially prior to the International Symposium on Combustion, with each director serving a six-year term. Newly elected directors will join the board to begin the next two years of service at the conclusion of the 37th International Symposium on Combustion in Dublin, Ireland.

Voting for the 2018 election significantly increased as compared to the 2016 election cycle. In that year, 3,333 members were registered to vote, and a total of 1,271 (38%) voters submitted electronic ballots. This year, 5,547 members were registered, with a total of 1,634 (29%) votes submitted. The 66% increase of registered participation is emblematic of an international organization that celebrates its growth.
