The Combustion Institute Board of Directors Nominating Committee and President Katharina Kohse-Höinghaus have selected and approved 10 candidates for the 2016 elections.

Five directors will be elected by the membership through the electronic election process first implemented in 2014. The election process will use a modified STV process in 2016. The modification ensures at least two of the four candidates from industry are elected, consistent with the Board’s goal of increasing its industrial representation. Members are encouraged to review the full slate of candidates prior to the election process.

The CI office is currently working with all Section Chairs to confirm their membership information. New section members who did not vote in the 2014 elections are encouraged to register on The Combustion Institute website no later than 20 April 2016. Members who have voted in past elections are not required to register again. That information is saved in the CI database.

Active members with a confirmed email address will receive a ballot to participate in the election. Electronic ballots will be sent to members 15 June, Members have until 15 July to respond. Voting members will be notified by 22 July of the results, before any public announcement is made.

Results of the election will be publicly announced at the 36th International Symposium on Combustion in Seoul, Korea that will convene from 31 July to 5 August 2016. The elected Board of Directors will begin its term at the conclusion of the symposium. If you have not yet registered for the Symposium, please do so now to secure your spot.

Election of directors is conducted biennially. Directors serve six-year terms. Refer to The Combustion Institute By-Laws for more information about the Board of Directors. Questions regarding the election may be directed to: Office@CombustionInstitute.org.
