We are looking forward to the summer season in the northern hemisphere, and we have three outstanding Combustion Institute Summer School options on the horizon.


First up on the calendar is the Princeton-CI Summer School on Combustion, which will be held at Princeton University in the United States. This year’s session of this summer school is scheduled for 23 to 28 June 2019 and will highlight “comprehensive knowledge in the technical areas of combustion theory, experiment, computation, fundamentals, and applications.”

Key application dates for the Princeton-CI Summer School on Combustion are:

  • 4 February Applications open.
  • 15 March Applications close.
  • Acceptance will be communicated by 5 April.

In early July, the first-ever Cambridge-Combustion Institute Summer School is on the schedule! With activities from 7 to 12 July 2019, this summer school “is aimed at the intermediate graduate student or industrial researcher and includes experimental and computational practicals.” The program and activities will take place at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

Key application dates for the Cambridge-Combustion Institute Summer School are:

  • 18 February Applications open.
  • 15 March Applications close.
  • Acceptance notifications will be sent on 31 March.

Also in July is the Tsinghua-Princeton-CI Summer School on Combustion, which will be based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. The program will run from 14-20 July 2019 and is a “master course event on combustion held by the Center for Combustion Energy.” The first Tsinghua-Princeton-CI Summer School on Combustion was held in 2012, and this program is generally attended by around 400 academic and professional combustion specialists.

Key application dates for the Tsinghua-Princeton-CI Summer School on Combustion are:

  • 1 April Applications open.
  • 30 April Applications close.
  • Acceptance will be communicated by 1 May.
